John Mitchell "Mitch" Mannin - Class Of 1960

John Mitchell Mannin, (class of '60) " Mitch", Jan. 14, 1943-Oct. 21, 2008, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 21 onboard a cruise ship while on a Caribbean vacation with his wife Annette. A fourth generation Floridian, born in Fort Meyers, Mitch was the son of an Air Force officer and grew up in many places in the U.S. and Europe, graduating from Fort Meyers High School. He received a BA from Florida Atlantic Univ., and MA in Political Science from The Univ. of FL. He served in the Army Reserves in Vietnam. He was a member of Pres. Gerald Ford's White House staff and appointed to several city boards in Boca Raton, FL. He was an Administrator for PBCC and after 17 yrs. with University Police Dept. at FAU retired in 2003. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Master of Boca-Delray Lodge, District Deputy Grand Master of Grand Lodge of FL, KCCH of Lake Worth Scottish Rite, Monarch of Sem-I-No Grotto, Worthy Patron of Order of Eastern Star, Watchman of Shepard of White Shrine, and member of Amaranth and AMARA Shrine. Mitch was the son of the late DL and Lois Mannin, and married for 34 yrs. to the late Alice Blazer Mannin. He is survived by his wife Annette Felty Mannin, and brother Owen Mannin and wife Stephanie. He was a much loved uncle and great uncle to nieces and nephews from the Mannin and Deaton families and stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather to the Felty family....
