Janet Geary (Baker) (1962)

On August 11, 2011, I attended Jack Mauldin's funeral in Charleston. It was a very nice gathering of people who knew Jack personally or professionally. Tom Doane drove up from Florida to attend also, so he and I represented the PAHS gang. I wore my necklace with the Eiffel Tower charm and our Class Ring! This was only a social gathering to remember him and a nice remembrance prayer service by their family minister. Jack had been cremated and will go home with his daughter. She gave me two items that Jack had been given in appreciation for all the work he did for the first reunion and locating PAHS attendees. I will try to remember to bring them to the reunion in May 2012. Those of you who were instrumental in the first reunion may remember that there was a group picture from the reunion and someone had passed around the mat that would be used to frame the picture for as many people to sign as possible. Also there was a globe of Paris sights that when shaken dispurses glitter inside the globe. It sat on a pedestal with a plaque which says:
Jack,
Thanks for the Memories!
PAHS ALUMNI
Jack cherished these items. During the service, Jack's daughter, Jane, said that Jack has lost his beloved cat, Max, a few months ago. She further said that he is now with Max and she can picture him happily running around "up there" with Max. God Bless you Daddo.

The family asks that memorial donations be sent in his behalf to the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406.

Dear Jack,

Thanks for all you did to bring us back together again.
Thanks for all the good memories, including the ones you helped to preserve.

Don't worry about your legacy; it is secure, I assure you. If anyone who ever spent time on this earth made himself unforgettable, it was you.

It's hard to imagine that the packet of energy called Jack is gone.

We will miss you.

Rest in peace, Old Buddy.

I was so happy jack got us all together for the first re-union.  I'm sure everyone was a little nervous and wearing our old annual pics saved a few of us from asking Who are You?  I kept in touch after the reunion and sent him a couple boxes of Arizona oranges on one of our aircraft going that way.  He called me one nite and I asked him why he was at home during an on-going hurricane.  he said it was ok, he had plenty of beer and him his dogs were in the basement, that's jack.  See you one day Jack. Thanks again.  Bob Henke

Jack and I talked on the phone quite often.  Now I find myself thinking "I need to call Jack" or "It's about time Jack called me"...........................then, sadly, I remember he won't ever call again.

I didn't know Jack very well back in the day.  As has happened with several alumni, we've made new friends and gotten to know old friend better because of Jack's pulling us back together.  Those who have carried on the work he started, I thank you.

I miss him very much.

Joanie

Mike Kanze (1965)

I got to know Jack when I began tracing and building the database of the "younger" (1964 and on) PAHS classes. He was extremely generous with advice and we cross-shared contact information on classmates that helped us each to strengthen our rosters. By the time he passed the database "torch" to others, Jack had built the strong foundation that the PAHS classes now enjoy.

Miss you, buddy.

Jack was my friend. He signed my yearbook in High School, became a lawyer and helped me years later. He will be remembered. He was a good man.
