In CA since 1967 after release from Air Force in which I served as a Chinese translator and air-borne spy.
Yale University 1963-64, Mandarin Chinese program for Air Force.
San Francisco State Univ., 1972 BA in Film/Broadcast Arts.
TV Host and Producer, "Nature Walks" in Marin County and San Francsico for Viacom cable.
Led nature walks and birding outings on Angel Island State Park, in San Francisco Bay and fired the Civil War era Mountain Howitzer for visitors.
After 20 years in Sonoma Wine Country, where among other things, I operated a one-man touring company, Sonoma Plaza Walking Tours, we moved to Greenville, SC. Quite a change but a refreshing one and we're finding our lifestyle continues here, ie, live music, good food, and lots of new brewpubs.

School Story:

I remember sitting in class the day that some deadline came from Russia (59-60?)to get our troops out of W Berlin or something like that and the fear was that Kruschev was gonna fire missiles at US targets in Europe. Suddenly a car/truck backfired out on the street and some joker shouted "they've attacked." I'll have to do some more research and get more details on exactly what the situation was about.
I also remember seeing Jackie Kennedy go by in a black limo just past the entrance to Bel Manoir PX. And I have a photo taken at SHAPE during Kennedy's visit where I can be seen in the background trying to get my camera to work!

And of course, the trip to West Berlin in 1962, just before we rotated back to San Francisco's Presideo. Fortunately, I still had some photos from that trip which I have posted here.

Sorry to hear this belated news. Mitch was the driving force behind our PAHS band, the Jazztones. His guitar playing skill was matched only by his tenor sax ability. I learned so much about both instruments from him. We played for dances at the teen center. I have a photo of us posted on my member page (Marvin Wayne Parker). I'll try to post it here too.

Taken Spring of '62 on group trip to W.Berlin. We planted a "peace" tree in a park somewhere in W. Berlin. We took it on the train from France!
Anyone else with photos from that trip is encouraged to post them, please! Especially looking for picture of the dance at the Officer's club where I and Darrel played with the band on stage.

Newly found photo I took in '05 from the upper level cafe at the Musee d'Orsay, with the Sacre Coeur in the distance. I remember having a blueberry pastry and coffee that was excellent.

Found one of my old 45 albums, from 1960... amazing that my Mom held on to these. Top record is a copy of that immortal R&R song. "Cherry Pie" by the amazing duo of Skip and Flip. I'm sure you all remember this big hit!!
LOL!

Taken at the listening station in Bel Manoir PX.
l. to r.: Dianne Desarmeaux, Marv (Wayne) Parker, Penny Stewart, and Harold Weaver. Taken in 1961 is my guess, since I left in August, 62 and Dianne had long since rotated back stateside.
