Profile Updated: January 6, 2016
Class Year: 1964
Residing In: Austin, TX USA
Spouse/Partner: Laura
Occupation: Retired
Children: Anna (“Anni”) Cordelia Mendez (born ’84) and her fine husband, Michael, had our first grandchild—a beautiful More…boy: Asher—on Nov. 18, 2010. She graduated 4.0 from University of Texas Health Sciences Center School of Nursing Dec. 16, 2010. (Rather tight schedule, I’d say.) Anna works at Round Rock Hospital (Round Rock TX).
Clara Lorraine (born ’90) is salon hairstylist apprentice at Milk & Honey, a quite prestigious salon in Austin. She married a great guy, Alex. She has a beautiful voice and I get to accompany her frequently!
Military Service: USAF
Comments:

Left PAHS in 1964.

Married once, to Laura in 1982. Still married. Two girls, 28 & 21.

Long and checkered career. A few examples: USAF; mental health field for 12 years or so; printing and typesetting field for 15 years or so; USPS Rural Carrier (retired since ’99). Work from time to time as a bailiff with the Criminal & Civil District Courts of Travis County (Texas).

Involved in my church since 1981. Still play the piano. Love French and French movies. Last in France Oct. 2007; went by the old school and got a wonderful guided tour of campus. Still looks the same only spiffed up and with a few new buildings.

School Story:

Went to Fontainebleau Jr. High for 8th and 9th grades. Then was a PAHS Dorm Rat from Fall ’61 through Spring ’64.

Favorite story (among many insanities) is locking the Dorm Counselor in his room and pouring 2-week-old milk under his door. That prank was the brainchild of Jim (“Terry”) Rozar (’64).

Loved being in the choir performing the Fauré Requiem in the Cathédrale Sainte-Croix in Orléans. (If fact, if anybody has the album we recorded there, please let me know: I can safely digitize it for posterity. It'll sound much better, too.) UPDATE: I got the album. Miss Dianne Nichols (English teacher at PAHS) sent it to me. If you’d like a copy, give me a shout.

Happy birthday! You do know you’re only 130 miles or so from me (in Austin) and about 100 miles from Joanie (Jensen) and George Christopher (in McKinney) and Kim Forgey (Arlington), and several others, don’t you. Why haven’t you ever come to a Dorm Rat reunion? Drop me a line at fontainebleau7@att.net sometime.

My wife Laura enjoying a café crème on the Voie Georges Pompidou on our way to the Louvre. We had been walking daily for 9 months or so before the trip—thank goodness!—We Métro-ed and walked everywhere. Fun, fun, fun.

A biology teacher making off with the class skeleton for a Halloween party she was throwing that night (remember early ’60s Mr. Burton and his skeleton?). Main building in the background looks the same. It was immediately recognizable as we approached on Blvd Gén. de Gaulle/Rue Pasteur (we had walked up from the river).

Laura and me in front of the gym. Grounds are beautiful. Buildings are bright and sharp-looking. Much the same except for some alien markings on the athletic field! It’s definitely not a football field any more. Oh, well . . . (actually, they do play baseball, I know for sure.)

Eat your hearts out! Laura fell in love with good ol’ “jambons.” We ate a couple of them nearly every day!
