MARCH 2, 1947 – FEBRUARY 1, 2021

Don Turner was born on March 2, 1947 in Ft Warren, Wyoming. Don was raised in a military family, growing up in various locations throughout the US as well as Japan and France.

Don attended Belmont Abbey Catholic Men’s College in NC and the University of Arizona, graduating with a BS in Wildlife Biology. Don worked for the Utah Highway Department for 2 years, and then was hired by the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AGFD) where he worked for 32 years. While working for AGFD, Don worked as a Wildlife Manager, Regional Supervisor, Field Operations Chief, and the Ben Avery Shooting Range Manager. Don retired from AGFD in 2004.

Don immediately went to work for Clark County, NV, designing and operating the Shooting Range. He has been the heart and soul of the Nevada firearms community for many years, and his passing will be felt deeply by many across the state. Throughout his fierce and tireless dedication to the Second Amendment, Don was critical to restructuring and revitalizing the Nevada Firearms Coalition, and building the programming that was near and dear to his heart.

Don retired in 2010 after completing the first phase the Clark County shooting complex. Don was very active in the 2nd Amendment Foundation, pervious served on the NRA Board of Directors and the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Don revitalized the Nevada Firearms Coalition, and was the President until his death on February 1, 2021.

Don is survived by his wife of 27 years, Betty Woods Turner, three children, Christina Kim (Chuck), Daniel Turner, Ted Turner, one Step-Daughter, Catrina Zenou (Israel) and two grandaughters, Lilly Kim and Stella Kim.
