Kevin,
I happened across your comment about your time in Oslo. We were there from 1/1958 to 6/1961. My father, like yours, worked at Kolsas. He also flew C-47's back and forth to Wiesbaden. I used to love it when he came back as he would bring American chewing gum which I loved to EAT, not chew, just eat like candy. As a 7 year old kid, I almost burned our house down on Anna Marias Via in Oslo playing with matches and gum wrappers! I am sure our fathers knew each other both in Norway and Paris. Your were a year ahead of me in school, but given the small population of Americans in Oslo and Paris, we probably knew each other as well. You might remember the Wegeners from Norway as well, I recall they had a daughter who might have been your classmate in the old barracks school. As a family we often went to Wiesbaden during our trips around Europe during our time in Paris as well as as Norway as well, but never went up into the Fjord country until a few years ago.Like you, we went to Garmisch a couple of times at least. That lake water was COLD. Never did go to Christmas Show they put on, but my brother, Bill, and I each ate at least one Banana Fudge Sundaes for breakfast (yes, breakfast) every day we were in Garmisch. When we were stationed Paris, we lived in St Germain en Laye,on the edge of the forest near Camp de Loge. Between not living in Petite Beauregard and only being in Paris for my freshman year, I didn't get to know too many people, I don't remember seeig any posting about this, but by any small chance did you work at the commissary bagging groceries? That was a great source of spending cash for me on weekends. Do you remember anything of the Algerian population from that time> It seemed to me that some of them worked for the US Govt, I know some of them worked with me at the commissary, they taught how to cuss in Algerian. It was a fun time to be in Europe.
Mike

Going to visit Paris again this August, 2018, but only for a day or two. Hope to get to see PAHS again. Last time was 1985 and drove by it to get to our old home in St-Germain en Laye....drove from downtown Paris to our old apt without making one wrong turn...love that place sooooo much. My wife actually thought I was smart for once since I could still stumble through some tres mal French. Will be even worse this time around.
